Across the Bank to the Exumas- Part 2

The 77 nm. run across the bank to Chubb Cay was bumpy, but tolerable. We arrived before dark and anchored with some surge, a bit rolly but tolerable. We decided to keep the dinghy stowed due to the roll, and the difficulty launching it in those conditions, so we endured the roll, it did calm a bit during the night, and we were up anchor and underway by 0604 hrs.

Our 80 nm. cruise to Highbourne Cay took us down the “Tongue of the Ocean” past New Providence Island, more commonly referred to as Nassau, it’s largest city and the capital of the Bahamas. South of New Providence, we change course to the east across another portion of the Bahama Banks toward the Exumas. We landed one Mahi in the deep (6,000+ ft.) water of the tongue. Into the freezer!
