Vero Beach

A smooth cruise from Cocoa put us in Vero Beach on Thursday afternoon, the 5th. We’ll take up a mooring and stay for about a week. We met up with fellow Selene owners Ken and Linda of Escapade and enjoyed cocktails on board and afterward joined them at their new home just south of town for dinner. It was an enjoyable evening, sharing our cruising experiences. Escapade is currently “on the hard” and is due to be re-launched in the next few weeks. Ken & Linda have been occupied with their move to the new home and getting settled in to their new community. That community consists of some other cruisers who have taken up a more permanent status in Vero, also pretty well known in the cruising community as “Velcro” Beach due to its tendency to hook visitors into longer stays than they planned! It is a wonderful area.

Our Saturday morning was highlighted with a trip on the Go_Line bus to the Oceanside Beach market, a local farmer’s market that we enjoyed on previous visits. Lots of fresh veggies and unique offerings, especially the Artisan Bread which is a popular favorite. Butterscotch bread, a big favorite doesn’t sound particularly appetizing, but it is wonderful toasted for breakfast!

Our weather has warmed up to more seasonal temps, still cool in the evenings, but we’re enjoying highs close to the 70’s. Very pleasant.
