We have been home in York now for nearly two weeks. My Dad’s heart problems were more than his body could overcome, although his spirit was strong to the end. We brought him home to his beloved garden and pond for his last days. He was able to visit with each of his eight grandchildren, and passed peacefully on May 22 with his children by his side. He was 87. Dad was the consummate father, living and teaching by example. He was driven in all that he did, and loved life, always the optimist. He taught me his love of the sea, and was proud that we are cruising and living what he dreamed about for many years. He will be sorely missed.

My heart comes to you and your family with prayers that you will remember him always. The death of a father is so different than any other death that the Jewish language has a special word for it. May all of your time on your boat honor him, his legacy and his dreams. You have been so fortunate.
