We welcomed our guests aboard Monday morning. Barb ferried the pups in for their morning walk while the skipper readied Maerin for departure. The plan was for Sue & Jim to meet us about 0830 for a 0900 departure. Barb returned with the dogs, dropped them off and returned to the docks to retrieve our guests. She returned to the boat, but no guests– just a dinghy full of luggage! The second trip included our guests! We kidded about being delighted they decided to join us for the trip to the Bahamas instead of just the five days we planned for! With the changeable weather we’ve been experiencing, travel packing is a challenge! With guests aboard, we stowed the dink while our fresh cruising mates settled into their cabin. We were a bit concerned about accommodations; at 6′-4, Jim’s a big guy and our guest berth is 6′-8 from bulkhead to bulkhead, but apparently big enough!
We got underway on schedule, bound for Vero Beach. Chilly weather kept us inside for most of the trip, and our guests enjoyed the pace of travel and scenery. We arrived at Vero Beach Municipal Marina around 1630, pumped out and filled water tanks, and took a mooring ball. We decided to stay two nights. Tuesday we walked to the beach and back, and in the afternoon decided to take the bus to the Publix to give Sue & Jim the real feel of the cruising lifestyle! We left Wednesday morning, headed for Palm Beach.
The pups enjoyed a couple of trips to the dog park, always fun! We saw a few familiar faces there, but I’m not sure we’d recognize the people without the dogs! We headed out Wednesday morning, bound for Palm Beach.
