We’re off!

Up & at ’em before dawn, a last minute run to take the dogs and the trash ashore, and we’ll be pushing off for Bimini. Landfall by this afternoon!  We’ll be joining cruising friends Chris & Joyce, it will be a contest to see who catches the first fish! Next stop, the Bahamas!

Are you familiar with Defender?

A familiar phrase now, after repeating it probably thousands of times during the Miami Boat Show, where we served as “greeters”, if you will, for Defender Industries at their booth at the Miami International Boat Show. An e-mail some months ago regarding a warranty/return issue with product we purchased through Defender led to some “undercover” […]

Miami Beach

We made arrangements to have a fuel truck come to the Yacht Club Monday, and included Chapter III, a sister-Selene in the operation. Bill & Jean arrived Sunday afternoon, and we enjoyed a visit and dinner with them. We brought both boats to the pier Monday and tied stern to stern so we could both […]

Ft. Lauderdale

Posts have been somewhat sparse the past few weeks! We’ve been in Lauderdale for almost two weeks, and before coming here we were in Palm Beach for almost a week. We met up with cruising friends Linda and Douglas and toured their new Nordhavn 55 which they’re preparing for some long-range cruising. It’s quite the […]

Vero Beach

A smooth cruise from Cocoa put us in Vero Beach on Thursday afternoon, the 5th. We’ll take up a mooring and stay for about a week. We met up with fellow Selene owners Ken and Linda of Escapade and enjoyed cocktails on board and afterward joined them at their new home just south of town […]

Happy New Year!!

Welcome to 2012!! We departed St. Augustine Tuesday the 27th and headed towards Cocoa, with an overnight stopover at New Smyrna Beach. There is a public dock at New Smyrna, that, although it is marked “NO OVERNIGHT DOCKING”, seems to be acceptable for an overnight stay. Cruisers frequently use the dock, and we have opted […]

Merry Christmas from St. Augustine

One of our favorite stopovers, St. Augustine is lit up like- well, a Christmas tree. Judging from the size of the crowds, it’s a popular Christmas destination! Our Christmas aboard is low key, simply enjoying the time here where our evening strolls are in shorts and a light vest and daytime temps are hovering around […]

Cumberland Island, GA

Our night anchored off Cumberland Island was not as serene as the sunset earlier had portended as the winds cranked up into the 20-25 kt neighborhood just after dark. A bit noisy and bumpy, but not enough to keep us awake. Still a bit breezy in the morning, we had breakfast and headed ashore. This […]

Brunswick, GA

Engine Problems! We departed Savannah at 2315 Thursday to take advantage of the ebb current, headed for Cumberland Island. The overnight cruise would put us in the anchorage at Cumberland Island late the following Friday afternoon. Conditions offshore were ideal, light winds, calm seas, and clear skies. Sometime after sunrise, we discovered that we had […]

Savannah, a favorite!

Up bright and early, we left Price Creek 0730 and headed for Charleston, where we opted to bypass one of our favorite stopovers, instead heading out to sea and Savannah. Our timing would put us into Tybee Roads after dark, where we’d head up the Savannah River on a flood tide, arriving at City Dock […]
