We spent a day in Oriental, the site of our 1st docking with Maerin when we brought her home in 2006. At that time we thought Oriental was a great spot to revisit, and we did that yesterday and today. There is a great marine consignment facility here, lots of recycled marine stuff. Some good, some not so good, some really 24162424tired stuff, but some good buys can be had by a knowledgeable buyer. We found a few things. We also visited the marine supply store and picked up a few things there that we were sure we wouldn’t find elsewhere. Lots of interesting shops in Oriental, also the site of a fairly large shrimp operation, with a good sized fishing fleet. There are lots of other shops in town as well. We had a good outing with our folding bikes, a ride to the grocery store a mile out of town, with Molly running alongside. One way for her to burn off some of that puppy energy! Lots of lovely homes, we spent several hours just walking around the town. The weather has been a bit on the chilly side for this time of year here, but today was just a 2440
beautiful clear fall day. Glorious, as a good friend so aptly describes. Our anchorage was one of the quietest and calmest we’ve had yet. The boat simply doesn’t move after the sun sets. A big moon tonight and lots of stars, tired dogs, should be a good night’s rest. We’re cruising again tomorrow, a short travel day to Beaufort, NC.

Hi guys,
I’m really luvin your site…..especially the photos, and particularly the architecture. Looks like someone one is color blind, tho… who knew that they made pink standing-seam metal roofs! And together with a bright green front door…how lovely. Oh, and collapsable bikes? Can you add a photo(s) that shows how they work? Like I said to June, we can live vicariously thru you. She loves to get out her photo of Maerin with the inset of the two of you with Barb’s pretty smile.
Had dinner with Mom and Dad last night. Slonakers called while I was there about their annual Dec. party for the Glen Rock carolers. Dad told Carol they’ll be there if he’s still here- Carol said they’ll have his parking spot ready for him. He’s a tuff ole bird.
Hope you have some nice warm weather….send some warm air up to York. It’s CHILLY here! yuk!

One of the grocery retailers I work with is Town & Country Great Valu is located in Oriental. Is that the store you went to? I hope so… 🙂 It looks like a beautiful place. Southern in every way.
