Well, it is the middle of October, and here in Middle River, it’s been a dreary weekend. We have been aboard readying for a departure to southern climes. Our family obligations are now manageable to the extent that we can consider heading south. A few loose ends to try to tie up on the home front, but Maerin is pretty much ready to motor on down the ICW. Some provisioning to complete, but we’ve been working on that incrementally.
We had visitors dockside at Stansbury. Several weeks ago Tim & Jan stopped by to visit a while, we had met them in the Bahamas, and they were in the Baltimore area for a few weeks visiting family.
Last week Chris & Joyce aboard Celebrate stopped in for an overnight stay following some email exchanges, we had met up with them the weekend before during our short visit to TrawlerFest (by car) and knew they were heading to Solomon’s the following week. A timely email found them diverting their planned route to stop and spend the night at Stansbury. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at a local Middle River restaurant and some fun time over cocktails aboard Celebrate. It was great to see our Selene Family friends again and catch up on summer activities. We’re hoping we can join them in the Bahamas this winter, but that plan remains to be seen.
We were able to get a few mini-cruises in over the summer, but Maerin spent more time at the dock in the past three and a half months than we ever expected. Family trumps. One of those cruises was to Rock Hall with boat neighbors Frank & Sherri, and pup Louie, Molly’s best friend! They are joined at the hip when they’re both at the marina, and alternate between boats. Sammie is tolerant, and plays the role of chaperone, nipping at them when they get too rambunctious! They had a great time, and eventually wound down for the cruise back to Middle River.
So stay tuned for developments, we may just slip those dock lines yet!
