Tuesday’s hot humid weather spawned some storms late in the evening. Lots of lightning, heavy downpours, hail and some wicked winds that had to have gusts at 70+ kts. We had more of the same Wednesday evening, but Wednesday night’s storms were much longer duration with winds more sustained but not as high, and out of the east. Our bimini was torn up badly, which was not unexpected since it was in pretty bad condition to start with. It had been re-stitched when the upholstery was redone this spring, and Gary said we would be lucky to get the rest of the season out of it. The old fabric was no match for the fierce winds, so a new bimini will be needed. We miss the shade, especially cruising during the afternoon. There were several boats in the marina that suffered some canvas damage as well. We’ll probably be more vigilant in stowing the bimini when the new one is completed!

Glad to hear that almost everything is going well for you. There is always something to do on a boat but it’s still fun. Maerin sure looks good.
