We arrived at Coral Ridge Yacht Club on Saturday afternoon about 5 PM. We had a relatively uneventful pleasant run from Lake Worth. Lots of bridges, and plenty to see in comparison with other areas. Lots & lots of bridges, some of which have restricted openings, so many of the legs of the trip had to be timed with the bridge openings.
After securing and washing the boat, we joined Chris & Joyce for dinner out at a local Thai restaurant. Good food, great company! The girls are semi-permanent residents at Coral Ridge. We exchanged several dinners and visits during our stay, and we had the luxury of having wheels courtesy of Selene Florida and Bob & Cheryl Klein who were gracious enough to give us the use of their car (and their boat slip) while they’re in Stuart for TrawlerFest. We also spent some time with Barb’s second cousin Janie and husband Bill. We joined them Sunday morning for brunch at the Yacht Club, and for dinner at their home tonight (Tues). We had delightful visit, and a wonderful meal.
Ft. Lauderdale is touted as the Yachting Capital of the World, and we visited some of the well-known spots. The spectacular homes and mega-yachts that line the canals are simply breathtaking. Just one after another, each successive one more beautiful than the last!
The view from the pilothouse in our slip at the Yacht Club encompasses several 90+ ft yachts, and the Bentley parked on the tennis court!
Today we did some last minute provisioning, taking advantage of the wheels, tomorrow we’ll head out, southbound for Miami, and the Keys. Hopefully, the frontal system that has beset us with 40 degree overnight temps and howling wind for two days will be moving east, giving us calm winds and warmer temperatures. We have the heat running this evening! It seems cold weather has a grip on us that just won’t quit!
