Escape from Brunswick

We decided the weather was as warm as it was going to get, and the winds laid, so it was time to leave the comfort and convenience of the dock and head south. We left Brunswick at about 0920, and arrived in Fernandina Beach around 1600 hours. Light winds and calm seas allowed an offshore run, and we had a very smooth cruise to Fernandina. We’re now in Florida, but it doesn’t seem much like Florida weather, as the temps are predicted to dip below freezing again tonight. The evening dog-shore run was pretty chilly. We’ll stay overnight on a mooring, then head for St. Augustine in the morning, another easy run. This time will be inside, the route is not as problematic as the Georgia sections of the ICW, and the section into St. Augustine is a scenic cruise. We’ll stay at St. Augustine a few days, it’s one of our favorite spots on the trip south.

Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!

When do you plan on escaping the ‘cold’ and heading to the Bahamas? We’re currently in Black Point, Exumas and hope to be heading to Cat Island on Monday. The temps are in the mid-70’s during the day and mostly sunny! The water temps are a bit chilly – 61 degrees – but you can’t beat the clear blue waters! We’ll be listening for you on the VHF – hope to see you soon.

We too really enjoy St Augustine, but as nice as it is there..it’s better in the Bahamas.
