A few uneventful days’ travel took us to Wrightsville Beach, a favorite stop on our trek south, so we stayed a day. Calm winds and temps in the 60’s gave us an opportunity to make for the beach with the dogs, who always have a great time there. Molly smells it a block away and becomes more animated the closer we get. Dogs are allowed on the beach November through April, so our late trip afforded us an opportunity to collectively get some exercise. Despite the mess that the dogs generate, it’s always fun. Molly seems compelled to drop her ever-present tennis ball in the sand and roll on it shortly after exiting the surf. Making for a very sandy mess! A few retrieves upon returning to the mothership and most of the sand is gone, but a bath with some lather is necessary to remove it all.
Not a lot going on in Wrightsville Beach this time of year, but it’s a pleasant stop. Wynn Plaza is a small local park convenient to the anchorage, and has a nice floating dock that affords easy access for those daily walks. Just a short dink ride to Mott’s Channel Seafood provides a treat of a meal of fresh fish and shrimp. This trip we found some nice fresh salmon and red drum. Always very good when it’s fresh!
