Rimouski

We made the short run from Moose Cove and arrived in Rimouski shortly after noon. Rimouski is a fairly large town, not touristy at all, but more of a working town. Some dive tours run out of the marina, which is very pleasant. Staff were all friendly and helpful, most had pretty good English.

Our routine has become that of hailing our intended destination on VHF 68 in french, and after stumbling through a few phrases, the person on the other end of the radio transmission will either quickly reply in english, or have us stand by for someone who can. “Stand by” is used in both languages, as is “roger”.
We had a pleasant day, so we took advantage of our early arrival and the dockside water to give Maerin a much-needed bath. We’re back into salt water, so the day’s travels leave their mark! Molly was anxious to swim, and although the water temperatures are in the high 40’s, she never missed a beat! The local boaters always get a smile when she leaps off the dock, and are amazed how she climbs the boarding ladder to get back on the boat. She loves her swimming! Sammy is happy to be in cooler climes, he loves the cold, and spends his time while we’re cruising sitting outside the pilothouse taking in the cool breezes, and watching for big fish.
We’re off from Rimouski headed along the coast for Matane, about 42 nm, an easy run. No fog today!
